“COVID has affected so many people and their financial security. We are trying to do our part to help give back to the community in more ways than one. Earlier this year, we helped by donating to those in need and our frontline workers, and now we’d like to help those animals who are impacted as well. We are thrilled to partner with an organization like Stray Rescue that strives to help animals in need,” said Munsok So.
So Hospitality Group launched several initiatives this year to give back to the St. Louis community. After the initial onset of COVID-19, Kimchi Guys gave away free Korean Fried Chicken slider meals to anyone in the hospitality industry while collecting goods for St. Patrick Center. Over the summer, all three So Hospitality Group brands donated hundreds of meals to our frontline workers at local hospitals. Just last month, Drunken Fish gave away 776 sushi rolls while raising funds to help support Operation Food Search.
Founded in May of 2003, So Hospitality Group encompasses brands Drunken Fish, Kimchi Guys, and 612North Event Space + Catering. Drunken Fish has three locations in St. Louis and one in Kansas City, Missouri. It has become a Japanese and sushi staple in St. Louis, having won numerous awards in various publications locally, such as “Best Sushi” and “Best Martini” in the Riverfront Times, “Japanese/Sushi” in Sauce Magazine, and “Best Japanese” in Feast Magazine. As found on the website, Stray Rescue’s sole purpose is to rescue stray animals in need of medical attention, restore them to health, and place them in loving, adoptive homes. Randy Grim officially founded the organization in 1998 after years of rescuing homeless and abused dogs off the streets and realizing there were no other resources available to help them. Over the years, Stray Rescue has grown to include two shelters within the city of St. Louis, over 60 staff members, 1,000 volunteers and 300 foster families.
